Dr. Edwards earned her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Colorado in Denver, serving as chief resident. She owns and operates a solo direct primary care (DPC) clinic, called Kansas City Direct Primary Care.
She enjoys the entrepreneurial element of the DPC movement immensely and is an avid reader. These two passions converged as she leads an entrepreneur book club in Kansas City that focuses on small businesses and startups. The group reads relevant literature to support business owners as they manage the growing pains of running a business. She is also a current member of the Novel City Growth Venture small business accelerator class of 2019. Her academic interests in medicine revolve around empirically-based decisions for system change.
Edwards’ professional interests and areas of expertise include public health, women’s health, preventive medicine, and emergency medicine. In addition to providing care at her DPC clinic, she serves as a volunteer clinical assistant professor at the University of Kansas and a volunteer clinical instructor at the University of Colorado, allowing her to continue to educate the next generation of students. She also volunteers at the JayDoc Free Clinic.
In her free time, Edwards loves spending time with family and pursuing hobbies, including photography, traveling, gardening, cooking, being outdoors, and reading the newspaper over a cup of coffee.
